From hitting the road, to boarding a plane, many will be traveling this Easter Weekend, and officials have prepared for the increase in traffic.
Wallet Hub reports 57.8% of Americans plan to visit family and friends on Easter Sunday. As a result, officials at Nashville International Airport are planning for a busy weekend.
Airport officials estimated 21,000 passengers came through the airport Friday, and another 20,000 were expected on Monday.
Friday, flights were departing and arriving with minimal delays.
Passengers said the key was to plan ahead.
“We planned to leave early, get here on time and take our time,” said Debra White, who was traveling to Denver.
“I encourage anyone who wants to travel to come on out. It’s not as chaotic as I thought it would be,” said Brenda Ivey-Robertson, who was traveling to Chicago.
Recent travel alerts due to the Belgium terror attacks have also added to increased security and longer security lines.
Airport officials are recommending passengers arrive two hours before their flight, and to check the flight status before coming to the airport. Updated information can be found at: https://www.flynashville.com/flights/Pages/real-time-flight-info.aspx
