WOODBURY, Tenn. (WTVF) — Authorities urged residents in Cannon County to be on the lookout for a “dangerous” man armed with a machete.

Law enforcement actively searched for the suspect, Michael Holden Thomas, on Wednesday, but canceled the search around 1:45 p.m. until he resurfaces. Thomas has not yet been caught.

The call came in around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday about a domestic dispute at a home on Locke Creek Road.

Thomas is accused of attacking his girlfriend with a baseball bat and holding three children in the home against their will.

Someone in the home was able to run from Thomas and call 911.

Law enforcement surrounded the home but he was able to flee north on Locke Creek Road. He left with a machete/large knife.

A pursuit continued onto Murfreesboro Road, at which point spike strips were deployed.

At some point, he ditched the car and allegedly broke into a home on Hoover Mill Road. The person who lives there ran him off.

The sheriff's office said he stole a white Chevy pickup truck with the tag number Y2613D that was next door to where Thomas wrecked his car. Deputies are searching for the truck and believe Thomas still has it.

Thomas should be considered armed and dangerous. Residents were told to lock their doors and call 911 immediately if they see him.

He’s facing three counts of aggravated kidnapping, domestic assault and parole violation out of Kentucky.
