Police have issued a warning to residents after a high number of car burglaries in Franklin.

Franklin Police said most of the incidents could have been prevented and occurred during the overnight hours.

According to investigators, several valuables, including guns, have been stolen from cars left unlocked by their owners – even from cars parked in driveways. In some cases, police said the suspects find keys in an unlocked vehicle and steal the car.

On Saturday night, a vehicle that was left running and unattended was stolen from the parking lot of Holiday Wine and Spirits. Police said the tag number is N 7276 U.

Police said car owners should remove their valuables and lock their doors. Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers at (615)-794-4000.
