A woman who went out for an early-morning cup of coffee was arrested after police say she crashed into a Goodlettsville convenience store and then fled the scene.
The incident happened early Tuesday morning at a Twice Daily on Long Hollow Pike.
Witnesses said the vehicle pulled up to the store and stopped briefly before accelerating and driving into the building. Two employees were pinned against a back wall. They were taken to TriStar Skyline Medical Center, where their injuries were not believed to be serious.
Police said the driver then backed up and fled the scene.
The van was later found abandoned near a Motel 6 on Long Hollow Pike. In addition to having front-end damage, police said the van also had supplies from the store on its hood, including straws, creamers and bananas.
Officers found a man in the parking lot who said he was looking for his van and that his girlfriend had given him the keys. The suspect, Kimberly Rigsby, was found in one of the hotel rooms.
According to an affidavit, she told police she had gone out for a cup of coffee when she crashed into the building. She claimed she fled because she was afraid she would get in trouble for driving the man's van.
