The Eastbound lanes of I-24 in Robertson County were closed due to a vehicle fire.

It happened at mile marker 19 near Pleasant View Wednesday night shortly after 8 p.m.

Witnesses said the four people inside the van barely escaped the flames. It was all captured on cell phone video. Viewer Tim Cook and his wife, who took the video, said they were headed home from work when they noticed the smoke and flames.

Before fire crews arrived, he used three of his own fire extinguishers, that were in the commercial vehicle he was driving, to try and put the blaze out.

Two men ran out, but two others were stuck in the back. Cook helped open the door before the fire got out of hand.

All Eastbound lanes were closed and Westbound traffic was said to expect delays. The road was expected to be reopened around 3 a.m.
