A Nashville man is behind bars after he tried leaving a parking lot in a car with a woman inside.

Michael Brown, 25, is accused of carjacking a Lincoln SUV on Friday that was parked at Robertson Avenue Market.

A woman was inside the car waiting for her husband in the store when Brown apparently hopped in the driver's seat and said "I'm leaving with the car whether you get out or not."

Police said he proceeded to put the car in reverse and back out, but the victim's husband and two other men stopped him before he drove off.

According to a police affidavit, the men detained him until police arrived.

Brown was wanted for stealing a truck from a valet stand. Police said they were already headed to the market because the OnStar inside that truck showed the vehicle was parked there.

Brown is charged with several crimes including carjacking, aggravated kidnapping and vehicle theft.
