A Chattanooga firefighter has gone viral after a Facebook post showed him comforting a 4-month-old baby.
The Chattanooga Fire Department shared the post on its Facebook page. Captain Chris Blazek was called out to an incident involving a car on Highway 58.
Blazek was able to comfort a pregnant mother and her three small children, in particular the youngest.
"I took her out of her car seat and did a quick physical exam to make sure she was okay. She immediately laid her head on my shoulder. Shortly after that I decided that my guys had the scene under control, so I decided to sit and take a break with my new friend."
The four-month-old fell asleep in his arms. Her mother was taken to an area hospital and firefighters stayed on scene with the children until family members arrived.
"It's moments like this, that I am reminded, this is why I do the job," Blazek said.
