Who knew you could make a guitar out of a discarded box? What's more — there's an entire association dedicated to the “do it yourself” instrument!
A fundraising event kicked off Friday evening at Little Harpeth Brewery for the American Cigar Box Association.
The non-profit is dedicated to supporting and promoting craftsmen and musicians who use the instrument.
Headlining Friday night's showcase was Reverend Peyton's band. Reverend Peyton recently added a three-string cigar box guitar to his stage collection.
The earliest recorded mention of cigar box guitars and banjos date back to the late 1800s.
