Chris Young became the first recipient of the Charlie Daniels Patriot Award.
Young received the award Tuesday evening at a dinner and performance.
The Patriot Award Dinner also featured some military veterans portrayed in the new movie 12 Strong.
“Chris certainly qualifies on all accounts to be named a patriot. He has a heart for the veterans and we take great, great pleasure in awarding him the first ever Patriot Award," said Daniels.
All proceeds from the event go to Daniels' veterans non-profit organization.
