Students at Christiana Middle School in Rutherford County were moved to a nearby elementary school due to a reported threat.
According to Rutherford County School officials, Rock Springs Middle School in Smyrna received an emailed threat that was directed at Christiana Middle School.
The school district's safety team was notified immediately and students at both schools were evacuated pursuant to safety procedures, which we practice regularly.
Officials said there was not a threat made against Rock Springs Middle School, but it was evacuated as a precaution and the building was thoroughly searched.
Students from Christiana Middle School were taken to the elementary school while the middle school was searched thoroughly.
Law enforcement found nothing out of the ordinary at either school. Police said they would continue their investigation. They want to identify those responsible for making the threats.
