A little girl who lost her family and suffered disfiguring burns in an arson fire is being deluged with cards and gifts from strangers around the world who were moved by her simple Facebook wish.
The Facebook post shows a picture of 8-year-old Safyre Terry and says she'd like enough Christmas cards to fill a small card tree bought by the aunt who's now raising her. The post has now been shared tens of thousands of times.
Safyre and her aunt, Liz Dolder, went to a mall post office Wednesday to collect the first batch of hundreds of cards and gifts that have poured in from well-wishers.
Meanwhile, a crowdfunding post on YouCaring.com has generated more than $174,000 to help the family with medical bills and other financial challenges.
