City of Gallatin looks to fill entry-level, temporary jobs

GALLATIN, Tenn. (WTVF) — The City of Gallatin is looking for people to fill jobs that require little or no experience or training. Many of the positions are entry-level and do not offer benefits, but officials say they can be a starting point for full-time positions that offer career training as well as medical and retirement benefits.

The available jobs are at Long Hollow Golf Course, Recycling Center, Police and Fire Department. The positions described as the city are listed below:

General Laborer – Public Works/Streets (Temporary Position)
Applicants should be task-oriented and not want a desk job. Responsibilities include mowing, spraying, digging, raking, cleaning ditches, loading and unloading, and various other manual labor as required under immediate supervision.
Starting rate - $12/hour

Recycling Laborer – Public Works/Streets (Temporary Position)
As the city grows, the Recycling Center on Long Hollow has a greater need for an exceptional person to oversee day-to-day operations. HS Diploma or equivalent.
Starting rate – $10.95/hour

School Patrol Officer (Crossing Guard)
Crossing guards control traffic flow into and out of school zones. Employees normally will work one hour in the morning and one hour in the afternoon Monday through Friday when schools are open.
Rate of pay is $40.00 per day for working both periods

Firefighter/First Responder
One line of the job description says it all: "Work is often performed under emergency conditions and frequently involves considerable personal hazard." Qualified applicants will receive the highest standard of training in order to serve our community.
Minimum Hourly Rate is $12/hour

Police Officer Trainee & Police Reserve Officer
Gallatin Police Department is looking for both a full-time Police Officer as well as Reserve Officer who would serve the community for at least 20 hours a month. Candidates must be a citizen of the United States, be at least 18 years of age and meet physical and psychological standards.
