NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A memo from Metro Nashville's Finance Director shows a tough budget year ahead, and shows that Metro Nashville Police aren't bringing in as much money in citations and tickets as they usually do.

Talia Lomax-O'dneal asked departments to remain "diligent in effectively managing" resources.

The department reported declines in the number of traffic violations and from the Hall Income Tax in the upcoming fiscal year.

The city will turn to the newly created Blue Ribbon Commission to seek out and find ways to cut costs and increase revenues.

O'dneal asked department heads and elected officials to submit suggestions on how to do just that within their own budgets.
