NASHVILLE, Tenn. - High school students from the Montgomery County school district came out for a shot at winning a new set of wheels.
Wyatt Johnson Used Cars had a key giveaway Saturday that allowed one lucky high school teen to drive away in a brand new car.
It was one of the ultimate rewards for passing their AP exams.
Each person was given a key, but only one started the engine.
After several failed attempts, Allison Smith from Clarksville High School tried her key, and to her surprise, got a new ride.
“The only thing I have ever won before was, like, a little stuffed animal from Hallmark, so this was pretty cool,” Smith said. “I’ve never won anything this big.”
Students were also able to win other prizes like iPods, laptops, and gift cards.
The annual event started in 2009 to encourage students to take and pass their AP exam and earn a college credit.
This year over 1,000 students form the district took the exam.
