CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - Friday's heavy rains didn't just ruin some afternoon plans. Residents of one Clarksville subdivision said it had the potential to ruin one neighborhood.
Neighbors in the Tylertown subdivision said Friday was the first big downpour since a drainage pond and new culverts were put in behind their homes.
The pond has been on land where a new subdivision and fire station were being built.
Residents said they were told the pond was supposed to lessen the flooding problem they've had for years.
Instead they said it's only gotten worse.
"Since they've added that pond," said resident Ernest Davis. "Now they have all that water rushing through here plus what they have from the subdivision. It's just gotten ridiculous. It's actually dangerous in here if you had a small car."
Davis said he and his neighbors have contacted the city of Clarksville multiple times over the years about their flooding issues, but it hasn't gotten any better.
NewsChannel 5 has reached out to the city asking if anything will be done to mitigate the flood problems.
This story will be updated when a response has been received.
