A man has been charged with animal abuse after a Clarksville police officer allegedly saw him throw a dog into a window.

Clarksville Police officials said the incident happened shortly after midnight Tuesday on Walnut Street.

Officer David Moore was in the area and said he heard a loud argument coming from a residence. As he got closer, he heard a dog yelping and a man yelling at the animal.

Moore said he then saw a white dog get thrown into a window of the residence.

He went to investigate and located the suspect, identified as Joshuah Williams, inside the home. Moore said he found the dog, who appeared to have an injury to its paw and could barely move.

Williams, age 30, was taken into custody and charged with aggravated animal cruelty. He was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on a $5,000 bond.

Police said the dog, named Lily, was picked up by animal control.
