The Clarksville Police Department released updated crash statistics and the numbers revealed the top five most dangerous roads in the city.
From May 1 to June 30, 2017 there were 125 crashes on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard, 105 on Fort Campbell Boulevard, 68 on Trenton Road, 64 on Tiny Town Road and 61 on Madison Street.
That brings the total to 423 crashes on just those five roads. Clarksville police said there have been 6 fatal accidents this year.
The fact that statistics show Wilma Rudolph Boulevard is statistically the most dangerous road in the city, didn’t come as a surprise to people who work along the busy road.
At Honest-1 Auto Care, Wayne Clinard said he sees about one accident a week through the front window of the business.
“Most of the time someone pulls out in front of somebody and they hit them on the back end,” said Clinard. “You will see an ambulance or fire truck and you know somewhere up and down the strip there has been a wreck.”
Clinard said because the road is lined with businesses, there is a lot of traffic throughout the day. He said the only way to reduce the statistics is for drivers to be more aware.
“You always have to keep your eyes open because someone will pull out in front of you, or stop and change lanes,” said Clinard. “It’s common out here for that to happen.”
