Clarksville police locate missing child with autism

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Police have located an autistic child safe in Clarksville.

The search for 13-year-old Reese Melton, began Friday afternoon after she left Rossview Middle School.

Police said she is known to hide in the woods and leave the main roadways and was found about four hours after the search began in a gully hiding under a fallen tree by Deputy Chris Owens and his K9 Finn.

She was found about a mile and a half from the school.

More than 20 officers responded to assist in the search. They also deployed drones, K9s and a drone, in addition to air support from the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

Residents also provided ATV's to help with the search.
