CMA Fest Hits Record Attendance; Number Of Arrests Decrease

Posted

The 45 annual CMA Music Festival reached a record number of attendance of 88,500 fans.

The festival sold out months in advance.

CMA Chief Executive Officer Sarah Trahern attributed much of the attendance hike to great weather, the addition of two new, free stages at Ascend Amphitheater, and Fan Fair X.

For the first time since moving to downtown Nashville in 2001, Chevrolet Riverfront Stage reached capacity twice on opening day.

Official CMA Music Festival merchandise sales rose about 2015's sales by 16%. The Festival’s newest stages (the AT&T Skyview Stage and Budweiser Acoustic Stage) at Ascend Amphitheater hosted 5,000 fans each day.

While the number of people attending the fest went up, the number of people arrested event went down.

Metro Nashville officers arrested a total of 71 people over the course of the four days. A total of 90 were arrested during 2015's festival.

Officials said 67 of those arrests were alcohol related - 16 of them were juvenile citations for underage drinking

Four others unrelated to alcohol were three for trespassing citations and one for disorderly conduct.
