The Tennessee Comptroller's Office found errors and discrepancies in the way the Houston County Sheriff's office has been logging evidence.
According to the report, deputies logged evidence they didn't actually have in custody. It also stated they didn't dispose other evidence properly and seized a reportedly stolen weapon.
The report said the department failed to utilize accountability by not hooking the evidence room's camera to a recording device.
Houston County Sheriff Kevin Sugg responded with a Facebook post, saying he called in the auditors after finding discrepancies.
He promised to file criminal charges if illegal activity was involved.
