HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. - Residents in Hendersonville hit the streets to show support of the Confederate flag.
A handful of neighbors stood along Main Street with both Confederate and American flags Wednesday evening.
They said they don't agree with leaders wanting to take down the controversial symbol in many places across the country.
Those flying the flag said their thoughts and prayers go out to the victims in Charleston, but they added racism was not what the flag means to them.
“It's definitely not racist to us,” said Tyson Ellis, a Confederate flag supporter. “It’s a symbol of heritage. None of us out here are racist. We all love everybody equally. We're all Christians.”
Organizers said they mostly had a positive reaction to their rally.
