Controversy Stirs Over Plans For Nashville Convention Center

Posted

A meeting was held over the possible plans for the future of what will the old Nashville Convention Center.

Plans for the new "Fifth and Broadway" project have called for a mixed-use development featuring the National Museum of African-American Music.

However, a number of Metro council members criticizied the plan because museum doors would be on 5th Avenue, not the busy street of Broadway.  A restaurant is there instead.

On Tuesday, Metro Council will consider a resolution asking the Mayor's administration to use an independent assessor.

They want to make sure the space devoted to the museum is valued at $11 million.
