A 31-year-old man has been charged with child rape in Putnam County.
Officials with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said Landon Paul Powers, of Cookeville, has been arrested for allegedly raping a child younger than 13-years-old.
The investigation began after a sample was collected and sent to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab for analysis.
Authorities said the sample matched Powers’ DNA provided to a database from a previous conviction.
Powers listed his address as homeless but previously lived on Springdale Drive.
He was held on a $1 million bond.
