COOPERTOWN, Tenn. (WTVF) — Have a free day to spare? The Coopertown Police Department is asking for volunteers who would be willing to get drunk on their tab.
According to Smokey Barn News, five or six volunteers will be asked to donate a full day of their time in order to assist in a day of training that will help officers make the right decisions during DUI checkpoints and traffic stops.
The department will be providing both drinks and transportation to the volunteers. While volunteers will be able to request certain types of alcohol, Sgt. Parker with Coopertown PD has has said they should not expect "top shelf."
The class will be held in Coopertown in late June.
This type of training is common for police departments and is known as "wet lab training."
If you are interested in being a volunteer, you can contact Sergeant Parker at 615-382-7007 or you can message the department on Facebook.
