FRANKFORT, Ky. — Kentucky faced another day of triple-digit increases in COVID-19 cases, with Governor Andy Beshear announcing 185 new cases Saturday.

This brings the state to 1,840 total cases of the novel coronavirus. Governor Beshear also reported four new deaths today, bringing that total to 94.

The governor stood by yesterday's announcement that health officials will mandate anyone who attends a mass gathering to self-quarantine for two weeks.

Beshear said seven gatherings planned for this weekend have refused to alter than plans, despite the state urging them otherwise.

"How many people who have specifically chosen not to go to a mass gathering end up paying for somebody else's decision? I get in people's mind if they say 'Well I'm just making a decision for me.'-- but you're not."

Beshear referenced the six deaths linked to a revival held in Hopkins County last month.

"That would be 42 deaths if the same thing happened like it did in Hopkins County....I know that there are folks out there that might disagree with it or how it sounds, but they don't have to read out the number of deaths every day."
