NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Crews responded to an apartment fire just south of downtown.

Smoke could be seen coming from the area in the 1000 block of 2nd Avenue South after the fire was reported just before 7 p.m. Monday.

Firefighters said there were flames visible from the roof, which was a patio area for the apartments.

Crews quickly put the fire out, but said there was fire damage to the patio and water damage to the apartments.

No one was home at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire was unknown, but officials said it was not suspicious and added there was also not a grill on the roof.

A fire investigator was called to the scene to determine the cause.
