A Franklin Police Officer was injured in a crash while responding to a separate crash in Williamson County.

It happened around 12:15 p.m. on East McEwen Drive near Players Mill Road when officials said a driver unexpectedly veered into the side of her vehicle.

The officer was on her way to help two citizens who had been injured in a crash, nearby.

She was driving eastbound, and westbound traffic had yielded to the officer’s lights and siren.

However, as another westbound driver crested the hill, he lost control of his vehicle, and swerved into the officer’s lane, hitting the squad car.

The driver of the other vehicle faced multiple charges from the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, who was investigating.

The officer was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
