For 16 months Taylor Stone has been wishing and praying to see her mom, Kelly Stone, again. However, last week her hopes were dashed when she received the call from a detective saying her body had been found.
“I just thought maybe she’d come home,” said Taylor. “He didn’t say anything over the phone, he came and told me in person but I knew that’s what he was coming to tell me,” Taylor explained.
Kelly and her vehicle were pulled from the Cumberland River at Peeler Park last week. Officers believe she committed suicide, a fact that's hard for Taylor to accept. “She promised me that she would never do anything like that,” she said.
In a few short years Taylor has lost her grandmother and her mother, the only family she has other than her 3-year-old son, Aiden who now has to grow up without his grandma.
“I just don’t really want her to be gone," Taylor said. Now she's focused on moving forward, one day at a time. “I feel like we’re one step closer to it all being over with. I’ve learned a lot throughout all of this,” said Taylor.
Kelly did not have life insurance. Family friends have set up a GoFundMe account to help Taylor pay for her mother's memorial.
