Deputies with the Davidson County Sheriff's Office received mental health training in hopes of helping people who may be suffering.

Many times those suffering from psychological issues end up in jail, which means deputies, not doctors, wind up handling difficult mental health cases.

Sheriff Daron Hall said his agency was the first in the country to require Monday's training.

Hall said every officer who works at the jail will receive that training.
