Davidson County Sheriff Daron Hall announced on NewsChannel 5+'s MorningLine he's about to become President of the National Sheriff's Association.

He says this will not pull him away from his duties as sheriff, and construction of the jail will continue on schedule.
Sheriff Hall will head up the three-thousand member organization.

"A huge honor. It's amazing to have sheriff's to accept you. It's something you are very proud of," said Hall.

He says he'll use the post to, among other things, promote his belief in mental health treatment for inmates. His new role begins in June.
