One Kentucky police officer experienced the danger of deer on the road when his dashcam caught a buck on camera when it ran out in front of his cruiser.
Officers said the deer impacted with enough force to damage the car, but things could've gone a lot worse.
Wildlife officials said the best way to protect yourself and your vehicle is to be aware of your surroundings.
“If you're in areas where you see the deer crossing sign, it’s there for a reason, really just slow down if you are driving home at night, and there is no reason to be in a hurry. Don't be in a hurry,” said Doug Markham with the TWRA.
Officials also warn that deer whistles that claim to alert or scare off the animals don't always work.
