NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — As the nation sees a surge in cases, healthcare workers are afraid there could soon be another shortage of PPE. One non-profit made up of healthcare workers is asking the federal government to have a plan in place in case of another shortage of medical supplies.

They're called Project N95 and they connect frontline workers to PPE suppliers.

The executive director of the group says, it's even hard to get a hold of materials to make the equipment. So, as part of the next stimulus package, they're asking lawmakers to create a system where they have easy access to medical supplies in the event of a shortage.

The American Medical Association wrote to Vice President Mike Pence and other members of Congress about developing a strategy to allocate more equipment. White House officials say while most states are in good shape, it’s unclear if they're ready should the situation get worse.
