Deputy-Involved Shooting Deemed 'Justified'

Posted

The Maury County District Attorney announced there would be no charges filed in an officer-involved shooting in Columbia.

The shooting happened on May 4 near a Columbia area doctor’s office during an undercover sting.

TBI officials said a Maury County sheriff's deputy opened fire on Trevor Jacoby, a suspect in the undercover drug buy.

Jacoby allegedly rammed Detective Roscoe Voss with his truck. Voss then opened fire while he was on the hood of the truck.

District Attorney, Brent Coopers said that based on the evidence collected by the TBI Voss "had a reasonable fear of death or bodily injury."

Jacoby was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he recovered from his injuries.
