Police released new details on Monday after a truck rolled off a cliff onto I-40 near I-440 on Friday afternoon.

According to police, William Green, an employee for Simmons Waterproofing out of Murfreesboro, was doing work on 37th Avenue North above I-40 when something went wrong.

Green told police he got out of the truck to begin work on a home and he left the truck's engine running. Green reportedly blocked the tires so the vehicle would not move, but Green said as he began to work, he heard a noise and saw the vehicle start to move.

The truck then rolled down the hill, hitting a fire hydrant, then falling off of the cliff onto Interstate 40, damaging numerous cars.

The details of how and why the truck rolled down the hill are still under investigation by police, but at this time no charges have been filed.
