NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Country music icon Dolly Parton has added a second show at the historic Ryman Auditorium in downtown Nashville.
Early this month, Parton announced plans to play a full concert in Music City for the first time in more than a decade.
The first show for Dolly Parton: Pure and Simple is set for July 31, marking the first concert Dolly has headlined in Nashville in 12 years.
A second performance has now been scheduled for Saturday, August 1 at 8 p.m. Tickets ranging from $100 to $55 will go on sale July 2 at 10 a.m.
According to the Ryman’s website, tickets for the event will only be available online.
The first benefit concert will raise money for the W.O. Smith School of Music. Since 2008, the concert has had the support of such artists as Ronnie Dunn, Kellie Pickler, Dierks Bentley and Lady Antebellum.
The second show will benefit the Opry Trust Fund, which was established in 1965 to financially assist those in the country music industry in their time of need.
"I love being a member of the Grand Ole Opry. [I] have been since 1969. It's important to me to be able to do a concert for the Opry Trust Fund as so many of my old Opry friends have benefited from it through the years. The money raised will go to help fund the medical needs and hospitalization for those who are not able to afford it and need the help. I am proud to be of help in any way," Parton said in a release.
Dolly is also scheduled to perform four shows at Dollywood in August. Those concerts have already sold out.
