MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – In June, a strong storm ripped off the roof of a local Salvation Army Family Store. All of their donations were ruined, and the store hasn't reopened.
Friday night, neighbors came together to help the Salvation Army of Murfreesboro.
The Experience Community Church hosted a worship service and donation event for the group.
No donation was too small. The congregation's goal was to stuff a truck with as many items as possible.
“They lost everything in the process, so this is just a drop in the bucket for stuff that they’re probably going to need as far as donations go,” said Amber Hampton, of Experience Community Church. “They’re in the process of trying to raise funds to recover some of what the insurance wouldn’t cover.”
The Salvation Army has still been accepting donations.
