NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Nashville firefighters are reminding us just how dangerous our beautiful Christmas trees can be.
Firefighters say the top three days for house fires are Christmas Day, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
On Wednesday, the Nashville Fire Department demonstrated what can happen when a Christmas tree goes up in flames.
If you can believe it, this tree went from the first photo to the second photo in about two minutes. It’s the most wonderful time of the year, but also the most dangerous for fires. We’ll have another demonstration on how to stay safe still ahead on @NC5 This Morning. pic.twitter.com/Zok9fG2Eos

The National Fire Sprinkler Association was also on hand to show off the benefits of having a sprinkler system in their side-by-side burn trailer.
Firefighters also decked out rooms for the holidays to highlight the importance of having working smoke detectors and keeping doors closed.
They also said this a good reminder to make sure you and your family have a well-practiced escape plan in place.
