Dozens Come Out For Family History Day

It was Family History Day at the Tennessee State Library and Archives, and some Tennesseans spent the day researching more about their family history.

Dozens came out to learn how they can dig into their past at the library and how they could use the state library as a resource. The library has held birth and death records, marriage licenses, and deeds to properties, all ways to research your family's history.

Some who came out said they're happy to have events like this because it hasn't been easy trying to search for information as people of color.

"Sometimes we don’t have that much to go off of. We have to go back and look through slave records and find out who the owners were," said Leola Cullon, of Nashville.

The library has been hosting this event once a year on the first Saturday after Thanksgiving.
