An investigation got underway overnight after the driver of a stolen vehicle ran a red light and crashed into a taxi while fleeing a Metro Nashville Police officer.
The incident happened early Thursday morning on 2nd Avenue South, under the Interstate 40 bridge.
An officer was at the J.C. Napier homes when he spotted a silver Ford Flex. That driver saw the officer and immediately fled.
From there, the driver ran a red light and collided with a taxi. The suspect then fled the scene.
The taxi driver was not seriously hurt.

Police ran the license plate of the Ford and discovered it was stolen. They’re working to notify the owner and locate the suspect.
