Jeremy Durham has confirmed that he plans to file a lawsuit in federal court to regain his health benefits.
Durham said on Friday he would be filing the lawsuit next week. He told NewsChannel 5 that he was promised lifetime health benefits.
Lawmakers voted in September to expel the embattled representative in a 70-2 vote.
Durham released the following statement Friday:
"This is about due process, fundamental fairness and forcing government leaders to follow the same Constitution they swore an oath to protect. Regardless of anyone's politics, violation of these core principles is something that should concern all Tennesseans."
As part of his expulsion, Durham was no longer be eligible to receive a lifetime state pension.
Durham, age 32, has been accused of sexually harassing at least 22 women on the hill.
