NEW MARKET, Tenn. (WTVF) — A police officer in east Tennessee has been arrested and charged Friday night with the solicitation of a minor.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI), along with investigators from Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, Tennessee Highway Patrol, and the Knoxville Police Department, among others, developed information over the course of a 4-week-long investigation into New Market police officer Joseph Miller.
They uncovered Miller attempted to arrange - through an adult - to engage in sexual activity with a female under the age of 13. Investigators also learned Miller intended to pay money to the juvenile, as well as the adult making the arrangement.
On Friday night, TBI investigators arrested Miller and charged him with solicitation of a minor, and booked him into the Jefferson County jail. His bond will be set at his next court appearance.
