One Nashville couple experienced eclipse day unlike anyone else by getting married hours before the sky went dark in Nashville.

Dan and Katie Carroll tied the knot at the Adventure Science Center; epicenter of Nashville's eclipse frenzy. Family and friends traveled across the country for the ceremony and NASA scientists and solar experts sat in the audience.

"It's amazing that my special day is also the city's special day," Dan said just minutes before the ceremony.

"I feel like my heart is about to beat out of my chest," Katie said.

The two chose celestial-centered readings for the ceremony, which was officiated by Tennessee's Former Speaker of the House Jimmy Naifeh.

Dan and Katie competed against dozens of other couples for the chance to elope at the science center on the day of the eclipse.

"I just knew if we didn't do it today, we'd always regret it," Dan said.

The couple was also invited to privately watch totality happen from the roof of the Adventure Science Center - where they could see the entire Nashville skyline go from sunset colors to darkness and back to daylight.
