First Tennessee Park in Nashville will host a viewing party for this August’s total solar eclipse.
The announcement was made Monday morning by the Nashville Sounds and Mayor Megan Barry’s office, among others.
The event is said to also include music from the Nashville Symphony and demonstrations from the Adventure Science Center. After the eclipse, the Sounds will play the Iowa Cubs at 4:05 p.m.
Gates to First Tennessee Park will open at 10:30 a.m. Attendees will get special solar glasses that will allow for safe viewing of the eclipse.
Seating for the viewing party will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
The beginning of the eclipse will occur at 11:58 a.m. and last until totality at 1:29 p.m.
This is the first time since 1918 that a total solar eclipse will sweep across the United States. Nashville is the largest city in its path.
