U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson delivered the commencement speech at Martin Luther King, Jr. Magnet School.
There was a bizarre sight at the graduation. Protesters came in during Johnson's speech.
The protest was against deportation.
After they were escorted out, Johnson replied to the protestors.
"Those young people represent a voice that deserves to be heard,” Johnson said. “I don't always agree with the matters they deal with, but it deserves to be heard. They have a voice."
Johnson added that immigration has been the most emotional issue he's ever had to deal with.
The graduation ceremony took place at 6 p.m. Saturday.
This was just one of hundreds of high school graduations happening this weekend in Middle Tennessee.
