Students from Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia made a stop in Tennessee in an effort to learn about the nation's Civil Rights era in the 1960's.

The group is called Operation Understanding, and they have traveled across the country, to learning about the important time in America's history.

As part of that tour, they have met many Civil Rights Icons, who were involved in the mission, including Nashville's Ernest Rip Patton, who was a Freedom Rider.
