Students, Red Cross To Promote Fire Safety

Posted

Tennessee State University students and others will visit houses in two Nashville neighborhoods this week to encourage fire safety.

The university said its students, American Red Cross volunteers, and representatives from the state fire marshal's office will visit the neighborhoods Friday. They will offer safety tips and install smoke alarms in homes.

Students were participating in the fire safety service project and others as part of the university's Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service.

Tennessee State received $447,000 in federal and matching funds to help facilitate a national service initiative involving ten other higher education institutions in the southeast region.
