SPARTA, Tenn. — An elderly man was killed in Sparta when he was struck by a vehicle this morning.
Norma Kirby, 82, was driving on West Bockman Way when Russell Giampietro, 79, attempted to cross the street in front of her.
According to a report from Tennessee Highway Patrol, Kirby was unable to avoid Giampietro, and hit him with her 2004 Buick.
Giampietro passed away from his injuries. Alcohol and drugs were not involved, and there are no charges against Kirby.
