Police are saying that a 6th grade student at Pleasant Hill Elementary School brought a firearm onto the school campus today, December 7.
The students showed the gun to other students who then told administrators about it.
The firearm was an unloaded small caliber handgun, which was taken from the student immediately after School Resource Officer, Jim Higgins learned of it around 2 p.m.
The student was taken into custody without incident and is charged with Attempted Aggravated Assault and Possession of a weapon on school property.
Currently, the student is being held in custody pending a hearing on Monday, December 10.
