NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has designated Nashville's skies as National Defense Airspace in the wake of the Nashville bombing, the ensuing investigation and downtown Nashville closures.

With the designation as National Defense Airspace, there is currently a flight restriction over Nashville. The update on the FAA's website reads, "Pilots who do not adhere to the following procedures may be intercepted, detained and interviewed by law enforcement/security personnel."

Additional actions may also be taken to any who violate the restriction. This includes administrative action by the FAA, such as the imposition of civil penalties and the suspension or revocation of airmen certificates; the pursuit of criminal charges by the United States government and the use of deadly force by the U.S. government against any aircraft determined to pose an imminent security threat.
