NewsChannel 5 first introduced you to UrbanGirl Nashville a few months ago. It's a private Facebook account that's helping connect new Nashville residents, especially entrepreneurs. What started as only a handful of online members is now a thriving social-scene.
The Facebook group is sitting well over 600 members with new ones joining every day.
"We actually have women that live here and they know someone that is moving in the next few months and they'll go ahead and add them to the group before they even move," said Lindsey Sherrod, co-founder of UrbanGirl Nashville.
It's not an organization or a non-profit. It's an invite-only Facebook group for women looking to connect with other women.
Group founders said it's a place for newcomers to meet other transplants to get support or advice, maybe meet-up for a cup of coffee.
"Since things have grown it's been awesome to see so many women come together and immediately jump into the group and want to support each other," Sherrod said.
Connecting is more important than ever in a city that shows no signs of slowing down.
According to reports, Nashville's population is growing anywhere from 85 to 100 people per day. As the city continues to grow, so do the number of out-of-towners looking for ways to thrive in a new city filled with new faces.
